Turf Sewing Machines is a family owned and operated manufacturer established in 1947. Founding father's Mal Maher and Joseph Caplan started by manufacturing sewing machines for the garment industry under the company name Newark Caplan Sewing Machine. In the 1950's a second company was incorporated, NC Carpet Binding & Equipment. NC Carpet Binding is credited with the first ever bobbinless chain lock stitch carpet binding machine. The 1st unit was sold to Bamberger's, now known as Macy's.

Through the years, NC Carpet was called upon by synthetic turf installers to both fix and sell turf machines.
